Bait Fish Community and tying notes for me

Bluntnose Minnow (PIMEPHALES NOTATUS)

Tying notes: Pencil shaped.  4" off-white/cream or silver belly, dark lateral line, yellowish olive green back of various densities. Kind of a grass carp color. The Ozark  Duskystripe Shiner pattern is a very close match.

Threadfin Shad  (DOROSOMA PETENENSE)

Tying notes: Slab sided.  Prominent dark spot a must, iridescent white/silver/purple and  yellow tinges, big eyes.

(popular bass baits this color are called Table Rock Shad)

Make all size baits. 1" to 4"

Gizzard Shad (DOROSOMA CEPEDIANUM) Young silver carp resemblance.

Tying notes: High body, iridescent silver, darker fins, big eyes

All size baits. 1" to 4"

Red Shiner  (CYPRINELLA LUTRENSIS)

Tying notes: iridescent silver/blue/ yellowish-olive back, rusty reddish fins when breeding

Creek Chub (SEMOTILUS ATROMACULATUS)

A slender, fine-scaled minnow with a black blotch at front of the dorsal fin and a black spot at the base of the tail fin

Dark olive back with silvery sides that have greenish or purplish reflections and a thick dusky stripe

Fins are yellowish or light olive, and the belly is silvery-white.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
